Deploy to Netlify

Step-by-step guide to deploying Gorilla on Netlify

Why Netlify?

  • Easiest setup - deploy your Gorilla output in seconds
  • Direct upload - Drag and drop deployment
  • Custom domains - with automated HTTPS setup

Prerequisites

Netlify Drop Instructions

Netlify is our preferred hosting platform due to its ease of use and getting started. They have a drag and drop interface that allows you to take your Deployment output and get started.

The Gorilla App Deployment instructions prominently feature:

The Drop experience will ask you to create an account after upload. I suggest you do that so you can further manage the app later.

Post-Deployment Configuration

Change Site Name

Go to Site settings → General → Site details and click "Change site name". Choose something memorable like familyname-gorilla.

Add Custom Domain (Optional)

Go to Site settings → Domain management → Custom domains. Click "Add custom domain" and follow the instructions to connect your own domain (e.g., example.com).

Updating Your Site

The easiest way to update your Gorilla site is to use the app to "Add More Videos" and then redeploy. Once you do it once, it should be pretty quick, as all the configuration will be saved.

Monitoring Usage

Keep an eye on your usage to stay within free tier limits:

Free Tier Limits

  • Bandwidth: 100GB/month (plenty for small-to-medium family use)
  • Build minutes: 300/month (about 60-150 builds depending on duration)
  • Sites: Unlimited

View your usage in Team settings → Usage.
